Making an entrance

Entrance made into farm property.

A diva will almost always make a great entrance. This property was missing one. With the only access via the neighbor’s property, the first big project involved a chain saw and some courage. I was fortunate to have a willing friend with both. He graciously volunteered to help cut down trees and we both dug out stumps so a culvert could be installed and a road built. Surround yourself with friends who think your journey is entertaining, and you’ll generally have someone to help you learn new skills.

Taking down trees is not for the faint of heart and I’d be lying if I told you I wielded that chain saw with gusto. Guessing where a tree might land is harder than it looks—the first narrowly missed my friend’s SUV. The second fell in the road, briefly blocking traffic.

Digging out the stumps was the hardest part of this job. In hindsight, this is where big equipment would have been helpful.
